10 important prayers for every single lady before marriage

Just when I thought that I had completed the series on ‘tips on godly single-hood’, I was prompted to publish another write-up, still on this topic.

Today, I will be sharing on 10 important prayers for every single lady before marriage

Who’s excited?

They will serve as a means for guiding you in your singlehood days. They also form a platform for reinforcing a strong foundation in your journey of marriage.
Additionally, I will be sharing supporting bible verses for an appropriate understanding.
Although the prayers are listed in a worded format (in no particular order of importance), I encourage you to make full proof of every sentence here.

1. A Prayer of Fulfillment/Completeness in Christ

And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman and brought her unto the man. (Genesis 2:22)

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power (Colossians 2:10)

Dear Lord, thank you for making me a woman. I appreciate you for the seasons of childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. I pray that you perfect all that concerns me in terms of fulfillment and completeness; spiritually, emotionally, financially, career-wise and health-wise. I reject every lie from Satan, regarding my identity.
Heavenly Father, I plead with you to make me a suitable complement for my future husband and children, filling in the incompleteness in every facet of their lives. I pray for Grace in Jesus name…Amen!

 

2. A Prayer for Trust/Patience in God

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. (James 1:4)

Sweet Lord, I admit that you have told me several things about my future. I have been in my season of purposeful waiting. However, Lord I must confess that my patience is waning. I experience occasional episodes of weariness and anxiety. You are my Strengthener, please help me not to lose focus, due to impatience. May I never take decisions, out of impatience. Let my soul find freshness in trusting you, dear Lord.. You are the custodian of times and seasons. Please, do not allow me settle for less (in career, marriage, purpose) in desperation…Amen

 

3. A Prayer for Preparedness

Now when every maid’s turn was come to go into king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odors, and with other things for the purifying of the women;) (Esther 2:12)

My Lord and Savior, I want to be intentional about maximizing my days as a single lady. I do not want to be caught unawares like the five foolish virgins. Keep me spiritually alert to be able to discern the seasons of my life (as written in heaven). With honor and without shame, I want to go through every phase of singlehood that will lead to a blossoming marriage.
Heavenly Father, please work on me and prepare me for my bridegroom…Amen

 

4. A Prayer for Emotional Stability

Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. (Revelations 3:10)

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7)

The Author and Finisher of my faith, please keep my heart from straying. Teach me to stay buoyant in the deep waters of temptations, pressure, and vicissitudes of singlehood.
Lord, you know me! I can be vulnerable. I can be emotionally committed to relationships that will eventually have a short life span. Please, help me to guard my heart diligently.
Heavenly Father, I pray that you grant me discretion to define all relationships, (especially with the opposite sex).

Please Lord, cleanse my heart from unwholesome thoughts…Amen

 

5. A prayer for Virtue and Value

Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies (Proverbs 31:10)

My Father and friend, please make me a woman of virtue and value. I do not want to constitute a liability to my future home.
O God, make me so valuable, that I will always be sought for. Please, grant me a high level of tact and entrepreneurship.

Heavenly King, please take away laziness/procrastination from me; help me to grow in virtue like Ruth, in industry like Rachael. Like Abigail, let my words be seasoned with salt… Amen.

6. A Prayer for Modesty

Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. (Proverbs 31:30)

Holy Spirit, please help me do your will always. I want to please you in everything that concerns modesty. Please, Lord, I grant you the liberty to vet my choice of clothing, hair-dos, beauty products, footwear, etc.
Almighty God, let every one of them give you glory at all times. Give me the grace to overcome the craze for obscenities and worldly fashion.
Let my activities on social media be such that you would be proud of. Father, my desire is to please you…Amen.

7. A Prayer for Spiritual Sensitivity

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, (Ephesians 2:18)

My Lord in heaven, I desire to see your perfect will in my life. I admit that I am limited in terms of spiritual understanding. Father, I pray that you guide me in everything. Help me to see, hear and do your will. I pray that you help me to identify my husband when I see him. In Mercy, dear Lord, may evil and impending danger not be hidden from me in my future home, Please Lord, let my spiritual senses be accurate. Help me to be the wife, mother and priestess of my home…Amen!

 

8. A Prayer for Sexual Purity

For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication (1 Thessalonians 4:13)

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; (Titus 2:11-12)

Merciful Lord, I thank you for the gift of salvation. It is your will that I stay sexually pure till marriage! My strength is little! I admit that the sex drive can be very overwhelming.
Dear Lord, please uphold me to continually say no to premarital sex every day. I pray that you grant me Grace to flee from every appearance of fornication. I plead with you to help me to stay chaste till marriage.

Lord, I have allowed Satan cheat me in the past. Please forgive me! Wash me with your blood and erase the memories of guilt and shame!
Jesus Christ, please take away every distraction and the sin that easily besets me! Please lord, purify my thoughts! Amen.
My Lord, my love, let my love be for you alone! Kill every inordinate lust for marriage. Please, grant me emotional stability…Amen.

 

9. A Prayer for Unreserved Love for my Future Husband

By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.
It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother’s house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me. (Songs of Solomon 3:1,4)

O Lord God, I pray that you create streams of godly affection in my heart for my future husband. I pray that you make me favorably disposed towards him when he shall come. Father, let my heart and soul well up with thoughts of his well-being. I pray that you grant me grace to accept him and submit to him in all things.
Almighty King, I pray that (upon our marriage), I shall do him good all the days of his life (Proverbs 31:12). Please Lord, help me identify the areas in his life that I am to complement (by Your Grace). May he continually find satisfaction and fulfillment in marrying me…Amen.

10. A Prayer for my Future Children

Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her (Proverbs 31 :28)

And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head. (1 Sam 1:11)

Dear Father, I pray for my unborn children. It is your will that I bring forth children that will serve you. They shall be round about our table.

Please, help them to serve your purpose in their lifetime. They shall possess the gates of their enemies. Grant me wisdom to be their mother and friend… Amen!
