Every day as I meet people, I discovered that a majority of persons are encountering a difficulty of some sort. Some are afraid, skeptical, unsure, bitter, angry and/or anxious about certain issues which bears heavily on their minds. People are hurting , and a lot more are unwilling to bare their scars, for several reasons, which is quite understandable.
Today, I ll be sharing a personal story with us here… How I overcame grief. You will also find bible verses on trusting God in hard times.
I pray your heart receives healing as you read through!
Feel free to share with those who are emotionally drained.
Some time ago, It was as though I had come to end of the journey. The vicissitudes of this life had had a better part of me. I had lost a loved one, someone really dear to me! Unfortunately, I became depressed, so much so that doubt subtly crept into my mind. I began to lose grip of the credibility of the Christian faith.
I was almost always alone, lost in my thoughts, and feeling awkward about everything…I mean everything!
I was too distraught to even pray, or find encouragement in scriptures… Nevertheless, at the point when I contemplated suicide, I experienced an opposing influence, whisking the very thought away. Truthfully, I knew that heaven was not done with me yet, and my exit would be rather untimely, but I couldn’t come to terms with the awful occurrences in my life.
Its true that friends and close acquaintances were helpful in the trying period. However, nothing seemingly could heal the widening hurt and grief I suffered daily. I knew i was sick emotionally. experiencing occasional episodes of forgetfulness.
Severally, I attempted finding solace in the promises of God as written in scriptures, I could only see my troubles written upon its letters, hence giving up on trying in utter frustration,
I can clearly relate with what depressed people go through when they commit suicide. Some of them really do not intend to do it. In fact, they tearfully do it. This explains why they seek for the least painful method to exit this world.
Back to my story, For many months, this continued, but each time I assured myself that all was alright, and my faith in Christ would never suffer loss, it was like fitting a square peg in a round hole. I would always fall back into that sullen mood, and I was always bitter at everyone and anything that reminded me of my pain.
People thought of me as a strong woman. I even encouraged bereaved people. Nevertheless, unknown to them., I was dying slowly.
You might be so curious to know how I bounced back? (smiles!)
I realized one thing, I had become too strong to even allow God make me strong and whole again. Verbally, i was affirming scriptures, assuring myself that all was well, refusing to cry etc.
Nevertheless, i did not allow the Comforter to do His work on me!
However, there are 10 lessons that I learnt experientially:
1. The Spirit of God (only) can comfort a man.
2. The Holy Spirit is nearer than I ever thought
3. Its okay to cry…My tears were also part of the healing process!
4. Embrace companionship (with discretion, of course), Let your heart be open to sincere people who truly want to be with you in this process, Do not try to be strong.
5. Be intentional about being happy, irrespective of what people may say.
6. Do well to face your fears, with the scriptures as a strong back-up
7. Do not always stay alone, socialize and embrace the beautiful life God has given you.
8. Do not weep as people without hope in this world. {1 Thess 4:13).
9. Stay close to Jesus Christ
10. Embrace the comfort that He gives you.
I hope this post helps!
You may not have lost anyone, but you may be going through a difficult phase. I encourage you to find solace in the Word of God.

Worry
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: {Phillipians 1:6}
Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
